The first pictures of the "ultra luxurious" electric Jaguar GT have been published
Jaguar has finally revealed its first new-age car. The electric GT has taken to road tests in camouflage, and in just a couple of weeks the British brand will unveil a concept that will set the design for the entire line-up of future electric cars.
Here's What We Know
This four-door GT will be Jaguar's first all-new Jaguar since the debut of the I-Pace crossover in 2018. It's based on the JEA platform, designed exclusively for electric cars. Two more Jaguar vehicles will be built on this platform before the end of the decade: a luxury sedan and an SUV.
Technical specifications
Jaguar is keeping details under wraps for now, but Autocar reports, citing its own sources, that the production car will have more than 575bhp, a range of around 690km (430 miles) and a price in excess of £100,000 (€120,000 or $127,000). Judging by its size and proportions, the novelty should be a competitor to the Porsche Taycan.
Design
The new GT abandons classic Jaguar features: compact LED headlights are almost invisible when switched off, and instead of the usual grille at the front is a closed decorative element. Inside, a minimalist approach is expected: touchscreens will replace most of the buttons, and the centrepiece will be a full-width panoramic display. The second row should have separate seats, its own screens, USB-C connectors and window shades. The manufacturer promises plenty of space and luxurious trim materials.
Autocar also created an unofficial rendering of the new Jaguar based on available information:
The conceptual precursor to the new Jaguar, the Design Vision Concept show car, will be unveiled on 2 December at Miami Art Week.
