Trump's policies may cause TSMC to reconsider plans to launch its plants in the US

TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) has postponed the completion of its Phoenix, Arizona plant following Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election.

Here's What We Know

The completion ceremony was originally scheduled to take place on 6 December, but has now been pushed back to February. The main reason for the delay was Trump's proposed tariffs, which could increase the cost of goods for end consumers. Trump has also criticised Taiwan's semiconductor industry and TSMC, accusing the company of moving business from the US to Taiwan. In response, TSMC has been cautious about doing business in the U.S., waiting to see exactly what measures the new administration will take.

Despite this, TSMC plans to build three factories in Phoenix, one of which should start producing chips using 2nm technology before the end of the decade. However, if Trump's policies prove too harsh, the Phoenix plant could be shut down before full operations begin.
