Apple discontinues Lightning adapter for 3.5mm headphone jack that came with iPhone 7 in 2016
Apple is likely to discontinue the Lightning adapter for the 3.5mm headphone jack, which the company introduced with the iPhone 7 in 2016.
Here's What We Know
According to MacRumors, the adapter has been marked as "sold out" on Apple's website in the US and other countries, indicating that it has been discontinued. The device is still available in a few countries, such as France and Sweden, but probably only until stocks run out.
The adapter allows you to connect wired headphones with a 3.5mm plug to iPhone models without a standard headphone jack via the Lightning port. It used to be shipped with the iPhone 7, iPhone 8, and iPhone X, but Apple no longer includes it with the iPhone XS and later.
The adapter was available at the Apple Store for $9, but now, after eight years of production, it will no longer be sold.
