According to estimates, the North Korean government could gradually send up to 100,000 troops to participate in a war against Ukraine if cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang continues to deepen.

This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the G20's estimates. The interlocutors of the publication emphasise that participation of this scale, if implemented, will take place on a rotational basis, and not in the form of a one-time deployment.

Ukraine's ambassador to South Korea, Dmytro Ponomarenko, said earlier that Kyiv expects up to 15,000 North Korean troops to rotate every few months.

Kim Jong-un's decision has caused concern among Ukraine's allies, who warn of the risk of further escalation of the conflict in Europe. Deepening cooperation between Putin and Kim could also affect the security situation in the Indo-Pacific region, amid growing tensions between China and the United States.

This issue is expected to be discussed at the G20 summit in Brazil, in particular by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
