Caterpillar introduced remote-controlled wheel loaders

Cat Command for Loading is now available on all Caterpillar Cat 950-982 Series medium wheel loaders, except GC models. This system allows the operator to remotely control the machine, increasing safety in hazardous conditions.

Here's What We Know

Cat Command now works with Cat 950, 962, 966, 966 XE, 972, 972 XE, 980, 980 XE, 982 and 982 XE loaders. The operator can control equipment from a safe location, maintaining productivity in applications such as demolition, land clearing, harbour work and bulk material handling.

The system has two modes of operation: In-line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight. For non-line-of-sight operation, a command station can be used to connect to multiple machines at different sites, up to several miles away. If required, a quick stop button - A-Stop - can be engaged. In addition, a Stop command is received automatically when radio signal is lost, serious malfunctions occur, or when the machine is tilted more than 45 degrees.

Cat Command is fully synchronised with the machine's electronics and hydraulics, providing fast response and smooth control. The control console gives access to basic functions - engine start, bucket operation and the like. Best of all, the optional equipment is dealer-installed and requires no welding or complex modifications.

The technology is also compatible with other Caterpillar machines, such as excavators and bulldozers, making it a versatile tool for improving safety and efficiency.
