Asus has started selling the flagship ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro gaming smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, AMOLED display and superior cameras
ASUS has announced its latest gaming smartphones, the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro.

Both smartphones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which offers a performance boost of up to 45% over previous models. This is especially noticeable when it comes to graphics thanks to the improved processor, which has seen a 40% increase in performance.
The smartphones are available in various configurations ranging from 12GB to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB to 1TB of inbuilt UFS 4.0 standard storage.
To keep the device at an optimal temperature, ASUS has increased the graphite sheet size by 57%, which reduces heating by a few degrees compared to previous models. The inbuilt cooler has also been upgraded.
The ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro get a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 185Hz. The screen has a brightness of 1600 nits (up to 2500 nits in HDR mode) and a DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage of 107%. Both devices support AniMe Vision, which is a matrix of LEDs to personalise the look. The ROG Phone 9 model features 985 LEDs, while the Pro version gets 648 LEDs.
The battery capacity is 5,000 mAh, which provides up to 4.5 hours of continuous gaming. At the same time, the company claims that even after 1,000 charging cycles, the battery capacity will only drop by 20 per cent. The new smartphone models support 65W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging. It takes about 46 minutes to fully charge the battery.
On the back, there is a 50-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The Pro version additionally gets a 32-megapixel camera with a telephoto lens. The front cameras of both versions are the same - they have a resolution of 32 megapixels.
The price of the ROG Phone 9 and ROG Phone 9 Pro varies depending on the configuration chosen:
- ASUS ROG Phone 9 (12GB + 256GB) - 1,100 euros.
- ASUS ROG Phone 9 (12GB + 512GB) - €1,500.
- ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro (16GB + 512GB) - €1300.
- ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro (24 GB + 1 TB) - 1700 euros.
