Inspired by the best: insider claims new Fable instalment is very reminiscent of The Witcher 3 - he's been left thoroughly impressed
Microsoft and Playground Games have been extremely dry in sharing details of the new Fable, and those materials that the developers did present were sceptically received by the public.
It's still unclear what the reboot of the once famous and popular franchise is all about, but it doesn't seem to be that bad. At least in terms of gameplay.
On the Xbox Two podcast, respected insider and Windows Central editor Jez Corden revealed that he's seen footage of an early version of Fable and he's impressed with it.
Here's What We Know
According to Corden, developers from Playground will offer players a dynamic and complex combat system that is reminiscent of The Witcher 3. He does not claim that the developers copied the cult Polish RPG, but he notes the similarities between the games. This may be due to the fact that Playground Games has hired several CD Projekt RED employees, including senior game designer Paweł Kapała.
In Fable, players will be able to use different fighting techniques, combining them almost freely. In addition, the heroine can use a bow or magical abilities at any time, which adds to the liveliness of battles. Variability in the passage will strengthen the large choice of weapons, which favourably distinguishes Fable from The Witcher 3, where the protagonist used mainly swords.
Corden noted a wide variety of unusual enemies, including a giant chicken and a bloodthirsty werewolf.
The insider mentioned that at Summer Game Fest he heard that Fable players will still be able to choose between a male or female version of the protagonist, although the trailers suggested that this option will not be available.
Jez Corden thinks the footage he's seen looks like a standard vertical cut, so gamers may be presented with a new Fable trailer soon.
