A huge MMORPG in your pocket: Square Enix and Tencent have officially announced Final Fantasy XIV Mobile for iOS and Android
TheInsider: Square Enix and Tencent will release a mobile version of the popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV and dataminer Kurakasis about the development of a mobile version of the popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has been fully confirmed.
Here's What We Know
Japanese publisher Square Enix and Chinese corporation Tencent officially presented Final Fantasy XIV Mobile. The game is being developed by LightSpeed Studios, with Naoki Yoshida, one of the creators of the original Final Fantasy XIV, acting as producer.
This will not be a ported version of the famous game from PC and consoles, but a specially developed project for iOS and Android.
Naoki Yoshida commented on the announcement as follows:
It's been 11 years since the launch of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and this new mobile game will be a sister game to FFXIV. It will attempt to recreate the greatness of the original story and combat mechanics on mobile devices.
The developers promise to bring all the main features and attributes of FFXIV to mobile devices: gamers will be offered an exciting story, a complex combat system, a huge open world, a wide variety of available races, professions and classes, exciting additional activities, regular events and festivals and much more.
When We Can Expect It
The release date for Final Fantasy XIV Mobile is still unknown, but the first stage of public testing will start soon in China, and "shortly after that" the international launch will take place. This will probably happen as early as early 2025.
