Minecraft goes beyond gaming: Microsoft plans to open theme parks in the UK and the US

For more than 10 years, Minecraft has been one of the most popular games in the history of the industry. And now it is planned to open two theme parks dedicated to this cubic world.

Here's What We Know

Microsoft has signed an agreement with British theme park operator Merlin Entertainments to open a Minecraft park in the UK and the US.

Merlin will invest more than $110 million in the first two theme parks, which will open in 2026 and 2027.

These parks will be integrated into either existing theme parks or city centres. After the opening, Microsoft and Merlin plan to expand their partnership on a global scale.

Minecraft is not the first game to have attractions in theme parks. In 2015, Nintendo began a partnership with Universal, opening Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios in Japan in 2021.
