Samsung's new patent promises to reduce power consumption and noise in multi-camera smartphones

Samsung has filed a patent for a new smart camera control system that saves energy when using multi-camera smartphones.

Here's What We Know

The technology involves the use of an additional processor that takes over the tasks of managing noise from lens movements and algorithmic framing with electronic image stabilisation (EIS). The main processor can then focus on taking photos, which reduces overall workload and power consumption.

When the device is in sleep or low power mode, the auxiliary processor continues to operate, ensuring stable camera performance without significant power consumption. This allows the main processor to "rest", ultimately extending battery life.

Benefits of the new system include reduced camera noise, lower power consumption and smoother operation of all camera functions. While this is still only a patent, its real-world application could significantly improve the user experience when taking pictures on Samsung smartphones.
