Insider: PlayStation 6 will surprise with an unusual architecture from AMD that combines RDNA and CDNA

Not so long ago, the media reported that back in 2022 Media: AMD beats Intel in bid to supply chips for next-generation PlayStation 6 console to supply chips and other components for the next-generation PlayStation 6 game consoles.

A well-known Chinese insider zhangzhonghao shared interesting information about the architecture of the new device.

Here's What We Know

According to zhangzhonghao, the PS6 will use a graphics processing unit (GPU) with a universal architecture UDNA, which will combine RDNA and CDNA.

Notably, the Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards, which are expected to go on sale in 2026-27, will get the same architecture.

As for the central processing unit (CPU) in PS6, it will be a chip based on Zen 4 or Zen 5 architecture.

The Chinese insider also mentioned that AMD components will be used in Sony's new handheld console, Not just PlayStation 6: insider information indicates Sony is developing two gaming devices at once.
