"More work needs to be done" - Digital Foundry specialists were satisfied with the technical performance of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, but pointed out the objective problems

A few days ago the long-awaited shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the sales of which only for the first two days exceeded 1 million copies.

The game was warmly welcomed by the public, as evidenced by the reviews in Steam, but critics did not come to a consensus, pointing to the technical problems of the shooter.

Digital Foundry experts, who are recognised authorities in the field of analysing technical problems (and merits) of games, also shared their analysis.

Here's What We Know

The Digital Foundry team was not in a hurry to release their material, as they wanted to wait for the release of the first day patch and, taking into account its fixes, draw conclusions about Heart of Chornobyl.

They confirmed that the 140 GB update did fix many bugs and improved the overall state of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. The Digital Foundry team praised GSC Game World's work on detailing every location and object in the shooter. Everything looks realistic and atmospheric, and although the quality of shadows and transitions between different layers of textures leave much to be desired, in general there are no serious complaints about the graphics.

The main problem of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 - too much load on the CPU, because of which the game can freeze both on Xbox and on the most powerful PCs.

Experts point out that if the developers manage to improve the data streaming when travelling through the open world - it will significantly improve the performance of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and make the gameplay more comfortable.

Despite the technical issues, Stalker 2 is worth the time and lives up to the expectations given to us by the 2007 cult classic. The version of the game available to players now is a vast improvement over what early reviewers encountered, but more work needs to be done for the game to reach its full potential.
