The updated Seat Leon eHybrid travels up to 133 kilometres in electric mode and supports charging up to 50kW
Seat has unveiled the updated Leon in eHybrid version - the most economical and powerful hybrid in its history. With a new 19.7 kWh NMC battery, this plug-in hybrid (PHEV) can cover 133 kilometres in all-electric mode, with a total range of 900 kilometres.
What has changed in the Seat Leon eHybrid?
The Leon eHybrid gets a 150 hp (110 kW) 1.5-litre TSI engine, an 85 kW (115 hp) electric motor and a six-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox. The combined peak powertrain output is 204 hp (150 kW) and the maximum torque is 350 Nm.
The plug-in hybrid now supports DC fast charging up to 50kW, although the 11kW AC charging capability remains. Charging from 10 to 80 per cent capacity takes just 26 minutes. In terms of electric driving range, the Leon eHybrid is comparable to the Audi A3 TFSIe, which can travel up to 141 kilometres on electricity in the WLTP cycle.
This PHEV version of the Seat Leon accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds in the hatchback and 7.9 seconds in the Sportstourer (station wagon) version.
However, Seat has not limited itself only to technical innovations. In the cabin - updated Digital Cockpit with a 10.25-inch display, which can be replaced by 12.9-inch in premium configurations. Like the updated Volkswagen Golf, the Seat Leon has illuminated touchpads for climate and audio controls. In addition, the Leon eHybrid already as standard has matrix LED headlights, available for the first time in this model.
In Spain, the cost of Seat Leon e-eHybrid starts from 36,450 euros. This modification is available only in FR version with sporty trim.
Special version in honour of the 25th anniversary
The Leon debuted in 1999 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as the successor to the Toledo. In 25 years, more than 2.5 million cars of this model have been sold, of which 700,000 were sold on the Spanish market. To celebrate the anniversary, Seat will launch a limited edition Leon in Style and FR configurations with TSI and mild-hybrid eTSI engines. The starting price of the Seat Leon eTSI Style 25th Anniversary with 1.5 eTSI engine with 115 hp. - 27,230 euros.
