Apple has recently filed a patent for an innovative system for its security camera that will allow it to recognise people even when their faces are not visible.
Here's What We Know
According to the patent description, the camera will initially use facial recognition to identify a person. However, if the face is partially hidden or not visible, the system will continue to analyse physical characteristics of the person, such as clothing, gait, or body shape. As a result, even if the camera cannot clearly capture the face, it will be able to identify the person based on other unique features.
This technology will allow the camera to "remember" people's physical features, storing this data only for a short period of time. For example, the camera can recognise a person by their clothes if they appear in the frame within one day. But data on a person's gait can be stored for longer.
This is not Apple's first attempt to use artificial intelligence in security systems, but the new camera could be an important step forward, making it even smarter and more adaptable to different situations.
Although Apple often patents many technologies, not all of them become part of products, a security camera with Apple Intelligence features seems very likely.
