Casio has introduced a new DW-5000R G-Shock watch model to mark the 40th anniversary of the first G-Shock watch, the DW-5000C, which was introduced in 1983.
Here's What We Know
The new watch retains the classic design of the original, including the location of the bracelet holes, bezel and luminous buttons, as in the first model. However, some details have been upgraded: the Super Illuminator LED backlight has been added, and the case is made of bio-resin, which was not available in 1983.
The DW-5000R uses the 3576 module, is powered by a CR2016 battery with a lifespan of up to 5 years and is water resistant to 200 metres. The watch is equipped with a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm clock and automatic calendar until 2099.
The price of the watch in Japan is 33,000 yen (USD 215). The official start of sales is 13 December. Information on availability in other countries is expected.
