Luxeed, a joint project between Huawei and Chery, has unveiled the S7 electric sedan for the 2025 model year. This version gets new colours and price cuts to lure potential Tesla Model 3 buyers.

Here's What We Know

The Luxeed S7 was first unveiled in November 2023, but the sales launch was not too successful due to supply issues. In April 2024, the model went back on sale with minor tweaks, and now the 2025 version has debuted in China with additional innovations.

The S7 measures 4,971 mm in length. The sedan is built on the E0X modular platform, which also underpins the Exlantix ET, Exlantix ES and Luxeed R7 cars. This architecture will also be used in the Freelander E0V SUV of the Chery Jaguar Land Rover joint venture.

The sedan is available with a 292 hp (215 kW) rear electric motor or two electric motors with a combined output of 496 hp (365 kW). The CATL battery packs have a capacity of 82 kWh or 100 kWh. The latter version has a CLTC cycle range of up to 855 kilometres in the RWD version.

The exterior of the S7 is unchanged, but the body palette has been updated with additional colours Phantom Purple, Blue Wave, Metropolitan Red and Sunshine Blue. The top Ultra version features original design elements, including 21-inch discs, red Brembo brakes and small aerodynamic elements.

The interior has been updated point by point, with dual wireless charging, a 17-speaker premium audio system and improved seats. The rear sofa in the expensive version is now heated and ventilated. The media system runs on HarmonyOS 4. The sedan features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch centre screen. The Huawei ADS 2.0 system provides partial driving automation and a remote parking function.

The main intrigue: the price

The Luxeed S7 2025 has become more affordable - prices have been reduced by 10,000-30,000 yuan ($1,400-4,100) depending on equipment. So now the S7 is cheaper than the Tesla Model 3 in China. The base Luxeed S7 Pro RWD with an 82 kWh battery and 705 kilometres of range costs 229,800 yuan ($31,700). And the Tesla Model 3 RWD with 606 kilometres of range is priced at 231,900 yen ($32,000).
