Apple has ordered M5 chips from TSMC for the next generation of its devices.
Here's What We Know
According to the Korean publication The Elec, the production of M5 chips will start in the second half of 2025, and the first devices with the new chips may appear in late 2025 or early 2026.
The M5 chips will have an improved ARM architecture and will be produced on TSMC's 3nm technology, which will provide significant advantages over the M4.
Apple also plans to use SoIC technology, which will help to better control temperature and reduce energy losses. This will allow the company to use M5 chips not only in devices but also for servers that work with artificial intelligence.
The M5 chips can be used in such future devices as the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and an updated version of the Apple Vision Pro headset. It also confirms that Apple continues to work closely with TSMC, which is the company's main chip manufacturing partner.
