Sony is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation brand.

Over the years, five generations of Japanese consoles have released a huge number of, without exaggeration, innovative, interesting, and sometimes even masterpiece games.

IGN's editorial staff has compiled a list of one hundred iconic games available on PlayStation consoles, starting with the PS1 and ending with the current PS5.

Here's What We Know

According to IGN the best game ever released on PlayStation is the spy stealth action game Metal Gear Solid (1998). The authors believe that the team of Hideo Kojima masterfully combined breakthrough and complex gameplay with unprecedented cinematography and complex plot.

The second place in the rating went to God of War (2018) - it was noted for the unexpected and adult reinterpretation of the story of Kratos, as well as for the seamless world and the fact that from the first to the last frame all the events in the game are shown in a single take, without montage transitions.

The third place went to Bloodborne - the cult action game from FromSoftware, which amazed gamers with its stunning location design, dark atmosphere and, of course, hardcore gameplay.

The top 20 best games for PlayStation consoles according to IGN looks like this:

  1. Metal Gear Solid
