Russia will allocate $175.5 billion for military needs in 2025

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a document titled "On the Federal Budget for 2025 and for the Planning Period 2026-2027", which states that Russia will spend a record $175.5 billion on military needs.
Here's What We Know
According to the new military budget, in 2025, the Russian government will allocate 6.31% of its gross domestic product (GDP) for defence spending. These funds will be used to strengthen production capacities for the creation of new weapons, ammunition and other military equipment.
The total amount of spending will be RUB 13.5 trillion for "national defence" and another RUB 3.5 trillion for "national security". Compared to 2024, when the defence budget was 6% of GDP ($140 billion), spending has increased by $35 billion. Western experts emphasise the importance of this increase, which is aimed at expanding production and implementing priority areas.
The greatest attention is paid to the production of artillery shells, as the Russian Armed Forces seek to ensure a superiority in the number of ammunition for their artillery units.

Another important area is the repair and production of armoured personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). Given the significant losses of this equipment, the issue of its restoration and renewal is critically important for the Russian army.
Significant investments are also envisaged in the production and modernisation of missile weapons. In particular, this includes the upgrade of the Iskander missile system, increased production of cruise missiles and the development of new delivery vehicles.
In addition, the Russian Ministry of Defence, together with the Rostec Corporation, is working to accelerate the production of aircraft, modernise Tu-160 strategic bombers and launch their serial production.
