Porsche is recalling 2,941 Macan Electric 2024 and 2025 model years in the U.S. to reprogram their headlights. The reason is excessive brightness that does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108.
Here's What We Know
Porsche Macan Electrics recently delivered in the U.S. had European headlight settings. This caused the high beam on these vehicles to be too bright for US roads. Consequently, the Macan's headlights can blind drivers of oncoming cars and thus increase the risk of an accident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has assigned this recall number 24V889000.

2,941 Macan Electric vehicles manufactured between 15 March and 4 November 2024 are under recall. To remedy the situation, Porsche will update the headlight control unit software free of charge. Owners of the recalled vehicles will be informed no later than 24 January 2025.
