Google is expanding the capabilities of its Wallet app on WearOS by adding support for "access cards" such as work badges, student IDs and hotel keys. The feature builds on a December update that added loyalty cards and media passes.

Here's What We Know

Users can now store and access hotel keys, student IDs, and corporate badges directly from their WearOS devices, offering more convenience when their hands are full.

This update follows the addition of QR code and barcode passes to Wear OS introduced a year ago, as well as support for archiving passes and organising them in the app's feed. The new access card support comes with version 24.47 of Google Play services, although it may take some time before it reaches all devices.

Google Wallet on Wear OS was initially limited to credit/debit cards and some transit options, but it has steadily added new features, such as support for hotel keys in June and an archived pass feature in September.
