Revelation of the Year: Glen Schofield offered Electronic Arts the concept for Dead Space 4, but was turned down.
The space horror Dead Space from the long-closed Visceral Games studio was released in 2007 and became a breath of fresh air in its genre. The author of the idea and game director was Glen Schofield, who after the release of the first part somewhat withdrew from work on the franchise and almost did not participate in the creation of the next two parts of Dead Space. And it affected the quality of the horror films, especially there were a lot of questions to Dead Space 3.
Here's What We Know
On the Dan Allen Gaming podcast Glen Schofield admitted that he would like to return to the series and even not so long ago offered Electronic Arts a concept for the development of Dead Space 4, but he was refused. The publisher's management made it clear that at the moment they are not interested in developing the Dead Space franchise, "but if anything - we'll keep you in mind".
It's not known whether Schofield approached EA before the release of his controversial horror The Callisto Protocol or after it, but a few months after the release of this game Electronic Arts released an excellent remake of Dead Space, which could well give the series a new life.
As a reminder, Glen Schofield has left Striking Distance Studios, the studio that produced The Callisto Protocol, and is already preparing to develop a new game.
