In Concord, some aspects were "outstanding" but others failed to attract players, leading to the shooter's closure - PlayStation management
Concord, a shooter developed by Firewalk, has become one of the biggest failures in Sony's history, closing just two weeks after its release. The game, which took about $200 million and 4 years to create, failed to attract a sufficient number of players. According to analysts, Concord's sales totalled only about 25 thousand copies, and the peak online presence on Steam did not exceed 700 players. The players who bought it were refunded, and the studio was closed. And PlayStation executives decided to ask about this game once again.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with the BBC, Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino, CEOs of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said that some aspects of Concord were still "outstanding". However, other aspects failed to attract enough players.
And as a result, we moved the game offline
They didn't say which mechanics they considered "outstanding", but the Concord story will now be a painful and important lesson for the corporation.
