Samsung has ended support for the Galaxy A42 5G and will not release any more updates for this smartphone.

Here's What We Know

The last update for this device was released in June or July 2024, depending on the country.

The Galaxy A42 5G was launched in November 2020, and the company promised support for four years. During this time, the device received two major Android updates, security updates every three months for the first two years, and two updates per year after that.

Samsung has published a list of devices that will receive an update in December 2024, and the Galaxy A42 is no longer on the list.

If using the old software doesn't work for you, it's time to think about upgrading. The choice among modern mid-range Samsung smartphones is wide, and the budget Galaxy A16 offers up to six Android updates and a long support period.
