Apple is working on a new HomePod that will feature a 6 to 7 inch display and an A18 chip for Apple Intelligence features. The device will act as a hub for all HomeKit-enabled home accessories and will be an important element of the smart home. The new HomePod was originally expected to be released in the first half of 2025, but its launch has now been pushed back to the second half of the year.

Here's What We Know

The main reason for the delay is software development rather than hardware issues. The device is expected to run on a special operating system called homeOS, which will receive updates similar to other Apple products. Apple plans to unveil the new HomePod at its WWDC event, where major Apple Intelligence updates with iOS 19 will also be announced.

Initial shipments of the new HomePod with Intelligent Display are estimated to be around 500,000 units, and Tianma Microelectronics will be the exclusive supplier of the displays. Apple is also developing several accessories that will work wirelessly with the new HomePod.
