Apple has problems with launching artificial intelligence in China
Apple has difficulties with the introduction of artificial intelligence in China.
Here's What We Know
According to The Information, the company is having trouble adapting Baidu's large language model (LLM) to correctly process queries and provide accurate answers in common scenarios.
Apple announced artificial intelligence features for the iPhone 16 in October this year with the iOS 18.1 update, but later admitted that the launch of the Apple Intelligence platform would be delayed in Europe and China.
Apple's privacy policy does not allow collecting data from iPhone users who make AI-related queries. However, Baidu wants to keep the data to "analyse and improve its AI".
Apple plans to use Baidu's Ernie 4.0 model for generative AI on iPhone, Mac, and iPad, as well as integrate it into Siri.
