Google Pixel Watch 3 will be able to detect cardiac arrest and call for emergency assistance
Google started rolling out updates for Pixel Watch 3, 2, and first-generation smartwatches in December 2024.
Here's What We Know
The update brings two important life-saving features for users in Germany and Portugal, including the Pulse Stop Detection feature, available to all Pixel Watch 3 owners.
For users in Germany, a new fall detection feature is available that automatically makes an emergency call if the user has not gotten up after a fall within 30 seconds and has not responded to the watch within 60 seconds. Also added for Pixel Watch 2 and 3 is accident detection, which notifies emergency services of an accident if the user does not respond to the watch's notifications.
The newest option is the Pixel Watch 3's cardiac arrest detection. It detects cardiac arrest due to respiratory arrest or other causes. If a pulse is not detected within 20 seconds, the watch initiates an emergency call, giving time to cancel it in case of a false alarm.
