WhatsApp tests unread status and message notifications for Android
WhatsApp has started testing a feature to remind you of unread status updates and messages. It is already available for Android users in the beta version of the app 2.24.25.29.
Here's What We Know
You can enable this option in the menu: "Settings, Notifications, Reminders". The feature will send notifications about statuses and messages that have not been viewed.
WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp prioritises contacts for notifications depending on the frequency of communication with them. However, this data is not backed up, so the system will analyse interactions anew after reinstalling the app.
WhatsApp may add an option to select contacts for such notifications in the future. If you want to try the feature earlier, you can join the beta programme on Google Play.
