Apple is actively working on its own 5G modems, which will first appear in the iPhone SE 4 in the spring of 2025.

Here's What We Know

According to Bloomberg, the company also plans to integrate cellular support into future Vision Pro models.

Apple is currently creating two types of 5G modems:

  • first generation - for budget devices such as the iPhone SE 4 and low-cost iPads, with a focus on efficiency.
  • The second generation is expected in 2026 for premium devices, including the iPhone 18 Pro and Mac.

It is not yet known what kind of modem Vision Pro will receive. Due to the headset's small battery, it is likely that a first-generation energy-efficient version will be used.

Cellular connectivity will make Vision Pro more useful, for example, for viewing content while travelling or working in places without Wi-Fi. This will help to avoid rapid discharge of the smartphone when using an access point.
