Denmark tries to speed up production of Caesar air defence systems ordered for Ukraine
Denmark is increasing military assistance to Ukraine until the end of 2024 and accelerating the delivery of Caesar self-propelled artillery systems to support Ukraine's ability to continue fighting.
Here's What We Know
Denmark plans to increase its assistance to Ukraine in 2024, including increased purchases of military equipment and accelerated delivery of weapons systems.
The government has recommended to the Foreign Affairs Committee that funding be expanded to sign contracts before the end of the year. In addition, Denmark, together with France, decided to accelerate the delivery of Caesar self-propelled artillery systems, which was originally planned for 2026. Now they will be delivered to Ukraine in 2025.

Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen said that this is done to strengthen Ukraine's ability to resist aggression, as well as to demonstrate Denmark's leadership position. He stressed the importance of allocating additional funds for the purchase of equipment, in particular from Danish industry and companies from other countries.
The new amount of assistance has not yet been disclosed, but it is known that it will complement the 2.6 billion Danish kroner (approximately $380 million) already allocated for the purchase of military equipment.
Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stressed the criticality of the current stage of the war and called on Europe to support Ukraine more actively. He also expressed hope that Denmark's example would inspire other countries to take similar actions.
