Events in Syria show that Russia and its allies "can be defeated" - Polish Prime Minister
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria demonstrates that Russia and its allies can be defeated.
Here's What We Know
Russia has previously provided military support to Assad, who is a key Kremlin ally, in his efforts to suppress the opposition during the civil war in Syria, which has been going on for more than a decade.
"The events in Syria have made the world realise, or at least should make it realise, that even the most brutal regime can fall, and that Russia and its allies are capable of defeat," Tusk wrote.

Poland, which has been strongly supporting Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion, is an important logistical centre for Western military assistance.
Earlier in the day, Ukraine said that authoritarian regimes that rely on Moscow's support are doomed to fail.
To recap, Bashar al-Assad was one of the few world leaders to recognise Russia's annexation of four regions of Ukraine in 2022.
