Australian police have been given a sporty BMW M4 Competition, but it won't go after criminals
The Western Australian Police have added a BMW M4 Competition coupe with a 3.0-litre engine producing 530 hp and 650 Nm of torque to their fleet. This car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and its top speed is limited at 250 km/h.
Here's What We Know
Although the car sports a Highway Patrol livery, Western Australian Police say the M4 is on loan from BMW Australia and will be used for promotional purposes in the coming months. The M4 Competition is priced from AU$186,500 (about US$119,000).
Police are also testing the Kia EV6 GT-Line electric car and other innovative vehicles such as the hydrogen fuel cell-powered Toyota Mirai.
The Western Australian Highway Patrol's permanent fleet includes vehicles such as the BMW X5, Skoda Superb, Kia Sorento and Kia Stinger.
