Doug Cockle, who voices Geralt in The Witcher 3, said that he accidentally shared the rumour earlier this year and received a "warning from CD Projekt".

Here's What We Know

Details about The Witcher 4 are still scarce, but in August, Cockle said that his character "will be part of the game, but it won't focus on Geralt."

Interesting information, but it turned out to be not entirely accurate. In a recent interview at MCM Comic Con Birmingham, Cockle noted that he was "referring to a rumour" and now he is not sure of its veracity.

"I did say something about it online and then I got a warning from CD Projekt because... I don't know how true it is," he said when asked about his possible absence as a main character. "I thought I saw someone from CD Projekt saying that Geralt will be in Witcher 4, but he won't be the main character. Now I don't know if that's true, because they came back to me and said, 'We haven't announced anything, don't say anything!

Cockle also said: "I don't know what's going to happen. I had ideas - I thought I knew something - and then they said, 'We haven't told anyone, where did you get this information from?

So where did this initial rumour come from? Kokl suggests that it could have come from "a very old statement from someone who no longer works at CD Projekt," but in any case, the developers are not yet ready to publicly confirm the idea.

This could mean several things for the upcoming game: the return of Geralt as the main character is again a possibility, although it seems unlikely. Regardless, Kokle doesn't have any clear information at the moment: "Witcher 4 is a complete mystery to me," he added.
