Nokia has announced the release of the world's first 8K 360-degree camera with 5G support for industrial use.

Here's What We Know

This camera is designed for harsh environments and is equipped with features to ensure data security. The camera streams low-latency 8K resolution video with spatial audio over 5G, Wi-Fi and Ethernet networks. It also has IP67 water and dust protection and is shock and vibration resistant.

The camera is available in two variants: a Wi-Fi only version and an Extreme Temperature version designed for extreme climatic conditions. Both variants support Nokia's Real-time eXtended Reality Multimedia (RXRM) software, which provides 360-degree video and 3D OZO Audio. This allows the camera to be used for remote monitoring, situational awareness and telecommand.

The camera is already being used by Finnish company Callio Pyhäjärvi in Europe's deepest mine for research and remote operations. Nokia is positioning these cameras as industrial devices, so they will not be available for general users. Pricing information has not yet been disclosed.
