Following the success of the HBO series The Penguin, DC Studios is planning to develop a film about Clayface, Batman's nemesis, written by Mike Flanagan, known for the film Doctor Sleep. Although plot details have not yet been disclosed, the filming process is scheduled for early next year.

Here's What We Know

According to Variety, Flanagan first proposed the project to DC Studios in 2023, expressing his desire to create a thriller/horror film about Clayface. However, he is already busy writing and directing the new film The Exorcist for Universal and adapting Carrie for Amazon. Therefore, DC is looking for a new director for this project, and an announcement should be made soon.

Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris will produce through their company 6th Idaho Productions. However, it's important to clarify that while Mat will be producing, the film will not be part of his Batman universe.

Clayface, one of Batman's first enemies, was introduced in 1940 as an actor turned criminal. His shape-shifting ability was first shown in 1961, and the character has appeared in many animated films and games.
