We wrote that Kadokawa employees would like to merge with Sony due to dissatisfaction with the current management. And now the Japanese giant has confirmed its desire to acquire Kadokawa.

Here's What We Know

Sony has confirmed its interest in acquiring Kadokawa, the company that owns FromSoftware. In an interview with Yahoo Japan, a Sony representative clarified the situation regarding rumours of a possible deal, noting that an initial statement of intent has been made, but details have not yet been disclosed.

Rumours of a possible acquisition surfaced last month following a Reuters report that indicated active negotiations between the companies. Although Sony already owns approximately 14% of FromSoftware, experts believe that a full takeover of Kadokawa could be a difficult process.

Kadokawa controls many assets that could be profitable for Sony, including FromSoftware, known for the Dark Souls series and the successful Elden Ring. Kadokawa is also involved in anime, which is also of interest to Sony.

Negotiations between Sony and Kadokawa are ongoing.
