Austin Butler is rumoured to star in a new adaptation of American Psycho based on the novel by Brett Easton Ellis, to be directed by Luca Guadagnino for Lionsgate.

Here's What We Know

The film, written by Scott Z. Burns, will not be a reboot of the 2000 film of the same name, but a new interpretation of the book. The original film, released in 2000, starred Christian Bale as Bateman, who played a Wall Street yuppie and serial killer.

Guadagnino, known for his work on Call Me by Your Name and Suspiria, can give a new erotic accent to this story.

And Butler, who has already shown in Dune 2 that he can play "crazy", could be a good choice.

However, according to IGN, Austin Butler has not yet signed a deal to play Patrick Bateman in the new film. Although it is true that he is looking at the project, nothing has been decided yet.
