Metro Awakening has received the biggest patch since its release, fixing dozens of bugs and making the experience more comfortable

Metro Awakening is a great game, but it had some optimisation issues. The authors released updates throughout the month after the release, but now the game has received the biggest patch yet, so let's see what's changed.

Here's What We Know

A lot of bugs have been fixed for Metro Awakening, so now it should be a better experience, as the changes affect both gameplay and visuals. So if you haven't played it yet, now is the best time to do so (if you have a VR headset).

General fixes and improvements:

  • Fixed ammunition freezing in cabinets and crates.
  • Fixed an issue where enemies continued to move and make sounds after death.
  • Fixed the incorrect triggering of the game area restrictions in certain places.
  • Added a menu option to enable/disable haptic feedback in the inventory.
  • Fixed cases of sudden appearance or disappearance of objects in several sections.
  • Fixed the problem of light disappearing at certain distances and angles.
  • Text jitter in menus and splash screens has been reduced.
  • The range of melee attacks has been increased, making them more convenient.
  • Fixed incorrect spatial location of gunshot sounds and inventory noise.
  • Fixed an issue where the outlines of postcards remained visible after picking them up.
  • Fixed incorrect display of bullet textures in stores.
  • Fixed hand displacement when holding a gas mask filter.
  • Fixed sound distortion from the nosers during sections with a trolley.

  • Added missing visual effects when hitting the riders during the prologue.
  • Fixed abrupt movement to the mounted gun when using comfortable movement in the prologue.
  • Fixed an issue where Tasia's voiceover was not coming from the radio when talking to Max in Chapter 1.
  • Added confirmation after completing the flashlight charging training in Chapter 1.
  • Fixed door opening instantly after talking to Jana in Chapter 1.
  • Fixed NPCs appearing in the player's field of view after saving and loading in Chapter 1.
  • Fixed Max's eyes during the first meeting in Chapter 1.
  • Improved performance around Max's office in Chapter 1.
  • Fixed snow pixelation in Chapter 2.
  • Fixed the scale of the fog volume in Chapter 2.
  • Fixed the guard holding his weapon incorrectly at the beginning of Chapter 3.
  • Fixed the absence of Max and his friend at the entrance to the tunnel in Chapter 3.
  • Fixed player getting stuck when leaving the tunnel before Max closes the entrance in Chapter 3.
  • Fixed the battle music stopping during the battle with the slavers in Chapter 5.
  • Fixed incorrect alignment of the first aid kit and its lid in Chapter 6.
  • Fixed the audibility of snarling nosals after their destruction in Chapter 7.
  • Fixed walking in Tamir's place in Chapter 7.
  • Fixed the immobility of the Worm Priest's mouth while talking in Chapter 8.
  • Fixed a graphical distortion that briefly appeared through a door in Chapter 7.
  • Fixed Oksana's voice cue breaking prematurely in Chapter 9.
  • Fixed the player getting stuck when manually closing the door opened by Petya in Chapter 10.
  • Fixed Serdar moaning after completing the haunted area in Chapter 11.
  • Fixed the appearance of one cultist in the player's field of view in Chapter 12.
  • Fixed incorrect tempo of music during the escape from the Hellmouth in Chapter 12.
  • Fixed cracks in the floor after the cart explodes in Chapter 12
