The card game Balatro has become one of the biggest hits of 2024, with sales exceeding 500,000 copies just ten days after its release.

The game continues to be hugely popular and developer LocalThunk has boasted a new achievement.

The game designer said that Balatro's sales exceeded 3.5 million copies - a colossal result for an indie game that didn't have a serious marketing campaign and is generally made in a rather niche genre.

Balatro is up for some of 2024's most prestigious awards, including Best Game at The Game Awards, The Indie Game Awards and the BAFTA Games Awards.

Balatro is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Mac OS, Android and iOS.
