Apple will start using its own chips for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi in 2025, Bloomberg reports.

Here's What We Know

This chip, codenamed "Proxima", will replace Broadcom components in a number of devices, reducing the company's dependence on this supplier.

The new chip will be initially introduced in the iPhone 17, Apple TV, and HomePod mini, and will be available in the iPad and Mac in 2026.

Apple also plans to combine this chip with the 5G modem it has developed, creating a single, integrated system that will improve energy efficiency and reduce battery consumption. Thanks to its own chips, the company will be able to produce thinner devices and new technologies for devices.

However, Apple does not plan to completely abandon Broadcom and will continue to use their radio frequency filters for modems. The company is also collaborating with Broadcom to develop future server chips for cloud technologies.
