Sloclap, known for Sifu, has announced its new project - the online football game Rematch. The game, which was presented at The Game Awards 2024, will be released in summer 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Beta testing is also planned for spring.

Here's What We Know

Rematch offers an atypical approach to football with 5-on-5 matches where players control only one character on the field. The game takes place in closed arenas with no fouls or offsides, which avoids delays in the match. Players can switch between the roles of striker, defender and goalkeeper, each of which has its own characteristics.

The game emphasises teamwork and ball skills, as well as the mechanics of shots and passes. Sloclap noted that Rematch draws inspiration from games such as Rocket League and Overwatch, but focuses on accuracy and player collaboration.

Although the exact price has not yet been announced, Rematch will be a paid project with plans for post-release content, including new game modes and cosmetic kits. The developers have spent three years creating this game and hope that it will bring a new perspective to football games.
