The trailer not only impressed with the quality of graphics and staging of scenes, but also raised a lot of questions from the fans of the series.

Here's What We Know

Representatives of CD Projekt RED in IGN material answered a number of important questions, in which they clarified some details of the new game.

So, first of all, the answer to the main question: will Geralt be in the game. He will be. The developers confirmed that the brutal Witcher is involved in the new part, but his role in the plot do not want to reveal yet, so gamers will have to wait for details.

Other details:

  • The game's debut trailer is created on a modified version of the UE5 engine and includes models and assets from the game, but it is itself a pre-rendered video and does not correspond to the actual look of the game at the moment;
  • the events of the video are set in a remote village in the north. The Witcher 4 will take players to previously unexplored locations on the Continent;
  • CD Projekt has always had a consensus that Ciri will be the protagonist of the next instalment;
  • in the video the girl uses the sword Zireael, which Geralt gives her in the best ending of The Witcher 3 (from the author: therefore, it is the canonical one, as the others exclude such events);
  • many years have passed since the events of Part 3, but the commoners still harbour an unreasonable fear and hatred of the Witchers, even though they hardly ever encounter them;
  • Ciri passed the Trial of Herbs and became a full-fledged Witcher, and in the game the developers plan to show when and under what circumstances this happened;
  • unlike Geralt, Ciri will not remain neutral in conflicts;
  • Tsiri's abilities allow her to draw power from natural elements, for example, to defeat the monster in the video she absorbed the energy of water;
  • the flower at the beginning of the video was not chosen by chance - in the past it was used to "fight evil" in Slavic culture;
  • the name of the girl who is sacrificed is Mioni;
  • the monster in the video is named Bauk - he senses the victim's fear and is able to influence its psychological traumas by paralysing its prey. Bauk's design was inspired by the Chimera war machine from Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
