Turkey dominates the global drone market with a 65% share - Baykar
Turkey controls 65% of the global drone market: Baykar has been outperforming its competitors in recent years thanks to innovation and successful exports.
Here's What We Know
According to Selçuk Bayraktar, Chief Technical Officer of Baykar, Turkey controls 65% of the global drone market. He said that Baykar has been the largest drone manufacturer in the world for three years, outselling its closest American competitor three times.
The Bayraktar TB2, one of Baykar's flagship combat drones, has gained international recognition for its success in wars and conflicts. For example, at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian defenders actively used this UAV against Russian troops. Described as "the most exported combat drone in the world", the TB2 has strengthened Baykar's reputation as a leading exporter.

In 2023, Baykar generated 90% of its revenue from international markets, and exports grew to $1.8 billion, up from $1.2 billion in 2022. The company also signed agreements with 34 countries for the Bayraktar TB2 and with 10 countries for its Akıncı heavy combat drones. Defence exports accounted for almost one-third of Turkey's record industry sales of $5.5 billion last year.
Baykar continues to innovate in drones, developing the Kızılelma unmanned fighter aircraft, which made its maiden flight in late 2022 and recently entered mass production. At the same time, the new Bayraktar TB3 drone, designed for use on warships with a short runway, successfully made its first take-off and landing on such a vessel last month.
