Toyota Hilux Champ turned into a seven-seater SUV
The popular Toyota Hilux Champ pickup truck, which is known as the Hilux Rangga in Indonesia, has been transformed into a seven-seater SUV. Due to its ease of customisation, this model has a closed interior and three rows of seats, making it a full-fledged family car.
The modification was carried out by the Indonesian company New Armada, which specialises in bus bodies. However, the new SUV will be officially sold by Toyota Astra Motor. The prototype was shown back in October, and the production version will go on sale in early 2025.
Here's What We Know
The front of the car remains the same as that of a pickup truck, but the body behind the middle pillar has been completely redesigned. The rear doors, complexly shaped windows and vertical lights give the car the features of a massive SUV. A higher roof with roof rails has been added to the upper part, and the lower level of the body is covered with unpainted plastic protection. Black six-spoke wheels complete the look.

The Rangga SUV has three rows of seats in a 2+3+2 configuration. In the prototype, the seats are covered with leather-like material and have a backrest adjustment. The boot space, however, is limited due to the third row of seats.
The model is available with a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 137 hp or a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine with 148 hp. The drive is to the rear wheels, the transmission is a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
Prices.
The base version of the Rangga SUV with a petrol engine and manual transmission will start at around $25,000. For comparison, the Rangga pickup costs from $11,800, and the Fortuner from $35,800. It is not yet known whether the Rangga SUV will go beyond the Indonesian market.
