Honda has today officially confirmed that the new Prelude will enter the US market in late 2025. The coupe will get a two-motor hybrid system, similar to the one already used in the Civic and Accord models.

Here's What We Know

The concept of the modern Honda Prelude was presented first at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 and then at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2023. The Japanese automaker did not say what design differences can be expected from the production version, but most likely, the 2026 model year car will be the same as the show car.

This has not yet been officially confirmed, but it is logical to assume that the new Honda Prelude will be based on the proven Civic Hybrid platform. It will be one of the few two-door cars on the American market.

Honda also said that the Prelude will be the first to receive the S+ Shift transmission mode. It is based on the existing Linear Shift Control technology for CVT transmissions, but in this case it is intended for Honda's hybrid models with petrol-electric powertrains.

Honda has not yet disclosed where the Prelude will be produced for the United States or what its price will be. But given the excitement and successful return of the Acura Integra, this hybrid coupe has every chance of attracting the attention of the brand's fans and bringing back the popularity of two-door cars.
