Apple may have cancelled plans to launch iPhone subscription due to technical issues
According to reports, Apple may have cancelled its plans to launch a subscription service that would allow users to "subscribe" to a new iPhone every year.
Here's What We Know
This information was reported by journalist and insider Mark Gurman. Before that, he noted that the company was working on developing a system where customers could pay a monthly fee for access to the device during a certain subscription period.
This service should make it easier to buy expensive iPhones for those who cannot afford to pay the full amount at once, providing the opportunity to pay for the device in instalments every month. Apple currently offers an iPhone upgrade programme that allows you to pay for your phone over 12 or 24 months, but the subscription was supposed to be a continuous monthly payment.
After two years of work on the project, Apple may have decided to suspend development due to possible regulatory issues, software bugs, and other difficulties. The team that worked on the subscription is believed to have been disbanded and refocused on other projects.
