Samsung may change its approach to styluses in the upcoming Galaxy Fold7 to make the smartphone thinner.

Here's What We Know

According to the Korean edition of ETNews, the manufacturer is considering a transition from an integrated S-Pen with electromagnetic resonance (EMR) technology to a stylus based on active electrostatic technology (AES), similar to the Apple Pencil.

Switching to AES will remove a special layer behind the screen, which will reduce the thickness of the device. For example, the Galaxy Fold SE, released in October, became 1.5 mm thinner due to the absence of this layer. However, the new stylus is likely to be larger, not integrated into the smartphone, and will require charging.

It has been suggested that Samsung will make this decision on pen input technology in early 2025.
