Germany doubles military aid to Ukraine in 2024: this year it is 62% of all arms exports
In 2024, Ukraine became the largest recipient of German arms, receiving 62% of total exports, amounting to €8.13 billion.

According to a report by the German Federal Ministry for the Economic Cooperation, Trade and the Environment, from 1 January to 17 December, arms exports worth around €13.2 billion were approved, of which 62%, or €8.13 billion, were destined for Ukraine.
The report includes both military aid from Germany and other countries and direct purchases by the Ukrainian government.
Other key recipients of German arms after Ukraine were Singapore (€1.21 billion), Algeria (€558.71 million) and the United States (€298.51 million).

For comparison, in 2023, Ukraine received approved arms exports worth about €4.43 billion.
The State Secretary of the German Ministry of Economy noted that the significant increase in exports reflects the sustained support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression and is in line with Germany's strategic security interests.
It is also emphasised that even after the collapse of the ruling coalition, Germany managed to contract more than €4.1 billion in arms for Ukraine.
"However, this does not mean that there is currently a serious funding shortfall, as, according to the German Ministry of Finance, the difference should be covered by reimbursements through the European Social Insurance Fund (EPF)," German Aid to Ukraine writes.
