Chinese company TCL has overtaken Samsung for the first time in the market for premium TVs with a diagonal of more than 80 inches. TCL had a 23 per cent market share in the third quarter of 2024, while Samsung's share fell from 26 per cent to 19 per cent.

Here's What We Know

Hisense, another Chinese company, has also narrowed the gap with Samsung, reducing the market share difference from 11 percentage points to just 1.65 points over the past year. TCL and Hisense have been actively adopting advanced technologies such as mini-LEDs and artificial intelligence, allowing them to offer high-quality TVs at competitive prices.

As a result, Chinese brands are no longer perceived as "cheap and low-quality". With increasing competition and political uncertainty, South Korean manufacturers such as Samsung and LG are facing serious challenges in the premium TV market. Experts say Chinese companies have greatly improved their technological capabilities and are now successfully competing with global leaders.
