Samsung seems to be working on a new S Pen technology to improve its performance and design. The company is reportedly working with South Korean firm HiDeep to develop new stylus technology.

Here's What We Know

According to the latest reports from The Elec, HiDeep will be working on a stylus that doesn't require a separate digitizer and battery and will be compatible with all brands, as well as making devices thinner and lighter.

Samsung currently uses Wacom's EMR technology, which requires a digitizer that increases the thickness of the device but doesn't need a battery. In contrast, Apple's iPad stylus doesn't require a digitizer but does need a battery.

The new technology, which is rumoured to be developed by Samsung and HiDeep, could be offered to Chinese smartphone brands once development is complete. Samsung Display already supplies foldable OLED panels to many Chinese smartphone brands and is interested in offering the new stylus technology.

Chinese brands looking to make their foldable phones thinner may be interested in this technology as it allows them to offer a stylus without increasing the thickness of the device.
